>I am pleased to report the Pen-Tailed Tree Shrew is in no danger of dieing out. Not a bit — despite subsisting on a diet comprised mainly of the naturally-fermented equivalent of a dozen glasses of wine every day!

    >If it's the naturally fermenting nectar of a palm, wouldn't it be the equivalent of arrack? (Which, BTW, being "neither grape nor grain" should be halal, along with mead and hard cider. Just thought I'd throw that in…)

    >D.W., I did not know that arrack was halal. Generally, arrack is distilled, palm wine isn't; or so my hasty reading of the other day seemed to say. (It started with WW II resistance on Mindanao…).
