>Old-fashioned oatmeal with cinnamon and vanilla sugar added to the water before the oatmeal. Yum! Taste it once and you’ll spurn the “instant” stuff ever after.

    >Steel-cut or rolled oats?Since discovering steel-cut, I won't eat rolled except in oatmeal cookies.

    >This is basically the reason for my (somewhat impulsively) buying a rice cooker. Steel-cut oats ready automagically in the morning at the same time as the coffee.I like mine with butter and salt, though.

    >Try real maple syrup in that oatmeal, if you haven't already, then you can lose the vanilla sugar, though the touch of cinnamon wouldn't hurt keeping in the mix.
